New things online

We've added a couple of new items to our online store, check them out below

Noise in my Head

Every so often we decide that we need to blog more about things we like, rather than just blog posts about Me&Yu, we do it for a bit then forget again. So here's me remembering!!!!

I found Noise in my head via Perks and Mini (our favourite Australian clothing label).
Noise in my head is - (in their words) -
Noise in My Head is a two hour freeform sonic excursion that broadcasts every Sunday 10pm-midnight on Melbourne community radio station 3RRR 102.7FM. The show is a commitment to potent baked goods that you’d otherwise never hear on the airwaves. Hosted by Michael Kucyk, NIMH regularly features mixes and interviews from various Australian and international artists, producers, DJs, label heads, compilation selectors and record collectors of unknown and well-respected renown.

You can download all the shows and dj mixes from their site, I downloaded 3 and spent the whole of the day in our studio listening to weird/obscure/good music - definately worth a download.

Yuksek

YUKSEK (LIVE) + Guest DJ at the Deaf Institute -Manchester
* November 14th - 11.00pm/3.00am *

If you've seen our website or ASOS boutique recently you will have seen the lovely Marine who modelled some of our new and old range for us. As well as been a great model she's also organising a night at the Deaf Institute featuring the amazing Yuksek (see below). We hammered Yukseks first album - Away from the Sea on the Me&Yu stereo and his new one will get just as much play. Anyway here's Marine to tell you why you should go!!!!

'If you think about it -there is NO reason why you shouldnt come to the gig. It's all about music, partying, and raising money for Cancer Research UK. It is new AND it is happening in Manchester. I would call that -winning the jackpot. Get yourself a ticket!!'

Fabric Printing

We've just started printing a couple of new rolls of fabric. The first is a purple UK made sweatshirting which we are printing in 2 colours with an aztec inspired design, we will then make it up into sweatshirt dresses. The second is a vintage mustard suiting fabric which we are making into slouch trousers.

Errmmmmm....new flyers

Not really sure if this actually justifies it's own blog post, but it's getting one for 2 reasons - one, I cant think of anything else to say and two I am a bit geeky when it comes to us getting new flyers.
So we have some new flyers, this is the first time we've done flyers for a specific collection (Mystical Forces) and they feature a double exposure photograph taken by Angie. Anyway here's what they look like, if you want one come into the shop!!!!! (or buy something online!!!)

New design online now!!

This design is hand-drawn by Angie and handprinted in black on an overdyed yellow t-shirt to get a "dirty mustard" textured colour. This unisex heavyweight t-shirt features a cut & finish neckline for a relaxed fit.

Containing the text "All That I'm Certain of is the Beauty of The Soul" hidden in the roots of a magical tree. Inspired by the myth and legend of the "Tree of Life" and hidden within the branches are lots of friendly creatures.

International Firework Championships

Fireworks Displays aren't really something that you think of when you think about fashion.
But every year Blackpool plays host to the International Fireworks Championships and this year Angie from Me&Yu was chosen to be on the panel of judges at this fabulous event. The judges were selected from professionals in the tourism industry and the arts council so it was a real honour for us to be asked to take part.

The event ran for 4 consecutive Fridays throughout September, with 3 competing teams from different countries, finishing last Friday with a closing display from a UK Team.

The First Week we saw a great display from Canada:

Secondly was Germany,

And last was Australia...

Angie was asked to offer her professional opinion about the quality of the displays, choice of music, syncronization, colours and overall technical performance. It's been a great opportunity to learn a little bit about all that goes into preparing these great co-ordinated shows. The Australian team just had the edge over some of the other performances with a jaw dropping display that was just perfectly timed throughout.

For more information about this and other great events see the Visit Blackpool website.
