New Season - New Photoshoots
We've been doing a few photoshoots recently some of our brand new stock but also some of the older designs you know and love. Since we opened our ASOS Boutique we've had to re-think the way we do our photography. We still like to have a great flat image of each design but ASOS Marketplace have strict guidelines and all items submitted to their site must be outside, street-style photography. This means that each item must be photographed clearly on a model outside - for both boys and girls.
In the past we've done shoots inside at Afflecks, occasional ones outside or relied on guest photographers so it seems like a lot of extra work for us to organise and take shoots ourselves of every single design - we make so many! But actually the results have been pretty amazing - what a difference to use outside natural light rather than rely on flashes which produce images that need colour correcting. I feel like a good photographer all of a sudden (but maybe my skills are just improving with practise) and I'm really happy with all the photographs - A big thank you to all our models who are also so talented themselves!!
Firstly was Lucas McDonald who we caught on his bike in the Northern Quarter (check out his Menikmati Fashion Label - his designs will soon be available online and in Cindy's House, Afflecks.
Jake Powell and Lauren Powell did some modelling for us in Blackpool and as well as the product shots we managed to get some more "arty" shots on 35mm film. As well as being full-time degree students at Blackpool they also have a card and gift brand called The Crafty Badger. And Jake is also in a band called The Colours who are playing around the North West - talented and busy!!!
Next up was Ruari Spence who has been a Me&Yu customer for years. He's just starting his degree in Fashion Promotion at Manchester Metropolitan - good luck Ruari!
And to come we've a girls shoot tomorrow with Marine Bezault who just graduated from UCLAN in Preston - can't wait!!
With more NEW DESIGNS on the rails by the weekend we'll have to get snap happy again soon. It's such an exciting time to see all our new designs on actual people rather than the plain "flats". And we have some artistic photoshoots from guest photographers scheduled for the next few weeks its looking like Me&Yu will be having a photo make-over!

The Australian electronic band Cut Copy have released the official video for "Blink and You'll Miss a Revolution." Described by the group as a "video found in a rusty chest in an ancient grotto in Saint-Maimin, France" the video was directed by Emile Sornin, and produced by Jules de Chateleux at Division. The track comes from the LP Zonoscope, which is out now via. Modular. Watch below! (thanks to HUH! for the text)

New Print/Re-print
Yesterday I had a busy day re-printing a new batch of our The End is the Beginning print as it's been selling really well. I also printed a new design 'Knowledge is Power', a single colour design on a amazingly good drip bleached black t-shirt. Here's some pics - they will be online next week (early).

Under The Town!!
You may remember us talking about a fashion show event in Blackpool. Well this was last Thursday 1st September and it was such good fun!!
Angie's been working with Blackpool Council, Blaze and The Grundy Art Gallery over the summer. All three organisations teamed up to create a programme of events for young people in Blackpool. The Arts Award is a national scheme for young people which enables them to gain a qualification and experience a variety of projects that are a bit more fun and interesting than things you would find in school. From Art, Music, Video Production and Event Planning - the award starts with the Bronze Award and moves on to Silver and Gold. Over the summer students have had a choice of workshops in Combined Arts, Dance, Theatre/Drama, New Media, Visual Arts and Literature.
As part of the Fashion module, Angie ran a two day hat workshop. These hats were then modelled as part of the Photography Module with Claire Pepper, an award winning Fashion Photographer based in London. The students then went on to organise and plan a whole festival in the Winter Gardens in Blackpool. With live bands such as Karima Francis, The Cold One Hundred and The Colours, stalls from Me&Yu and The Crafty Badger, and a fashion show which was completely choreographed by Sarah Hall. These amazing photographs of the night were taken for Blaze by Brian J Slater Photography - better than we could do with our little compact camera!!!
Thanks to everyone we met who had such lovely things to say about us, and worked together so well to produce an outstanding event!
