Blackpool/Public Art

Leading upto our soon to be open Blackpool based pop-up shop - Me&FYC, we thought we'd show some of our favourite places in Blackpool. Starting with 2 pieces of amazing public art - The Comedy Carpet and The Giant Disco Ball.

The comedy carpet is amazing just because it looks great even if you don't read all the quotes, and I can ride my bike over it!!!!, and the giant mirror ball.... well it's a giant mirror ball!!!!!!!

Shopfit

We've been a bit quiet on the blog recently, as we spent last week doing a new shopfit of the womens half our Afflecks store. Here's a few snapshots so you can see what it's like.

The amazing counter was made by us (we really do do everything!!!!) out of old screen printing screens and shows some of our designs from 2005/2006/2007

Australian Stuff

Now some of you might know that here at Me&Yu we are heavily influenced by Australian culture, so much so that we're stupid enough to spend £30 getting an Australian magazine (Monster Children) shipped over every couple of months even though it's heavily surf/skate based and we do neither!!! - however it is without doubt the best magazine around and definitely worth the £30, followed secondly by Frankie which luckily they stock in Magma.
Anyway I just thought it was worth sharing a few things from the magazine -

A Day in The Studio

Finished Necklines for the Handmade Is Tropical Print T-Shirts

Made a Pattern and a sample for our NEW Handmade Floral Slouch Tops

Started stitching the NEW Handmade Unisex Stripe Vests - The new cover stitch machine takes some practice, but the results are awesome!!

And while I was sewing Gordon was printing new labels for all the new designs.

Tomorrow is another busy studio day - I'll be finishing the stripe vests and adding a printed pocket. Then making some more of the floral slouch tops with a lace back & drop hem.

If I get chance I might make some womens vests too!!

Tropical

Tropical Print - Part 3.

The final colour went onto our new tropical fabric print yesterday, next step - lots of cutting out and sewing!!!!!!

Tropical Print - Part 2.

I'm now wishing I'd printed more of the first colour as a base. I wasn't sure how the first colour would look once dry, but it looks good, oh well, blue next to fill in all the gaps!!!

New fabric print Part 1

Here's a look at the first print run of a 3 colour tropical inspired fabric print, our aim is to recreate the look of a hawaiian shirt on a handmade t-shirt. Parts 2 & 3 coming soon!!!!!!

Me&Yu at Blackpool Handmade & Vintage Fair Blackpool

This weekend sees us having a sort of day off with a pop -up stall in Blackpools amazing Winter Gardens.
Here's the info - A two day spectacular of crafts, vintage, entertainment and music with craft workshops, a vintage tearoom and lots of handmade goodness.
There will be over a 100 stalls selling the northwest's finest gifts, clothes, toys, accessories, food, art, cards, homewares, antiques, collectables and much more. Click here for more details

Me&Yu Monday Cycle Meeting

Even though we work  together/live together it is only really once a week when Angie & myself get to sit down and plan whats happening with Me&Yu (and sometimes we even miss this if we've got a lot to do), anyway as the weather was so lovely yesterday, and Angies got a new tricycle we decided to go on a bike ride along Blackpool promenade and have a sort of 'business meeting' in the sun.

Handmade & Handprinted Tropical T-Shirt - Sample

After finally finishing printing the tropical fabric, I managed to teach myself how to use our new sewing machine and produce a quick sample Tropical print, handmade and handprinted t-shirt.

We should hopefully be getting these instore and online late next week, the plan had been to have them ready for this Saturday but unfortunately they had to be put back as we had so much work to do re-stocking our shop after a busy weekend and re-stocking one of our bigger stockists.
