My day in the studio

Today I've been printing another couple of new designs, here's my day in photos -

Few New Designs Online

We've also added some items from our sample sale to the sale section, they are mostly imperfect items - misprints/marks etc but are still very wearable (and very cheap!!!!!) Get them here

OPen Studio/New Things

A big thank you to everyone who came along to our open studio/sample sale we had a great night and met lots of new friends (and made some extra space in our studio!!!!!)
It wasn't till after the event that I noticed 2 things in our studio that people may have thought a bit strange!!

The picture of the Queen came from the shop and had been stored on a shelf in the studio, i recently moved the shelf and placed the pic here (then forgot about it and left it)

I have written vinegar on the wall to remind me that I have some vinegar to clean the glass for my exposure unit. Hope that clears up your questions!!!

We have another new design finished - Worlds Collide

New Prints

We've got a couple of new prints going into the shop later today, the first is a simple handrawn text print - 'Sad Songs Make Me Happy' black on white, and the second is an Aztec inspired pattern print with a slight Me&Yu twist (see if you can spot it). They will go into our Afflecks store around lunchtime today and should be online in the net few days. We are also printing some other new designs today and will post some pictures later.

Don't forget our sample sale

For those of you in and around Manchester, don't forget it's our sample sale tomorrow (4pm-8/9pm) at our studio in Hope Mill. As well as our sample sale there will be loads of other art/music/design to look at (and probably some free booze!!!!)

New New New New

 It's all about the new stuff today, I've just used my new handbuilt exposure unit to make some screens of new designs which I will print later using my new print head!!! exciting times

We really are DIY

Sometimes people don't believe us when we say we do everything ourselves (and we mean absolutely everything) but we do and I've spent the last few days building a very large printing table (for fabric printing) and a new exposure unit. To make the screens we use to print our t-shirts we place a print out of the design on a screen coated with photographic emulsion then shine a very bright light onto it which transfers the design to the screen (basically) so I've just built a better unit so we can produce more detailed designs. I'm not the best at DIY but I'm pretty sure it will work well!!!

Designs

We're still working on new designs and hopefully should be starting printing next week, so we'll be posting loads more stuff then. But before that here's a sneak peak at one of our designs.

Designing new stuff

We're currently deep into designing a new batch of prints which means lots of coffee and screwed up pieces of paper, all going well so far, we've given ourselves 4 days to get things finished then the next couple of weeks will be all about getting screens ready and printing the new things!!!! it's pretty exciting for us, and this is probably the best bit of what we do.

Lack of blogging

Apologies for our sporadic blogging of late, we're currently in the middle of trying to do some new designs (quite alot) and producing an order for some shops in Japan. So unfortunately this post simply consists of that explanation and a photograph of the 500 swing tickets I have to attach string to this weekend (running a small fashion label is less glamorous than you might think!!!)

35mm Cameras & Film

We now have a small selection of vintage 35mm film cameras in our Afflecks store, we'll post pics everytime we get a new batch, we also sell colour and black&white 35mm film.

Thom - A Portrait of Modern Youth

Regular readers (if such a thing exists) of this blog will know that every so often we do a post about how we need to post more 'other' stuff than just Me&Yu news, this is then followed by something we've seen somewhere else on the web - this is that post!!!!!

I'm not sure how I found this film, but as I have a fondness for Australia, skateboarding and surfing (even though I live in England, can't surf/swim or skateboard) it seemed like an interesting watch - and it is!!!
