Scissors
Now this may seem extremely dull but it's a post about scissors!!!! Yeah I got a new pair of scissors. Now this wouldn't normally warrant a blog post but these scissors are special - they were handmade in Sheffield (last week) by Ernest Wright & Co, a family owned scissor manufacturer.
I'm left handed and my current pair were not up to the increased amount of cutting I've been doing recently, and as the new year will see an increase in the amount of handmade product we sell, I thought it was time to invest in a new pair. I had a look on google and found this amazing small company that handmake all their products - that was it I had to get these, here's some nice shots of them -

Mushroom Hat
We don't like to waste fabric, especially fabric that we have lovingly handprinted. So once we'd cut out a fresh batch of handmade & handprinted mushroom sweatshirts we were left with a big pile of spare fabric...and this is what we did with it!!!!!!!
buy it here!!!!! (or at least like it!!)

New design online now!!
This design is hand-drawn by Angie and handprinted in black on an overdyed yellow t-shirt to get a "dirty mustard" textured colour. This unisex heavyweight t-shirt features a cut & finish neckline for a relaxed fit.
Containing the text "All That I'm Certain of is the Beauty of The Soul" hidden in the roots of a magical tree. Inspired by the myth and legend of the "Tree of Life" and hidden within the branches are lots of friendly creatures.

N4 Festival This Weekend
We will be taking part in this weekends Northern Quarter N4 Loves U festival. Along with some other shops from Afflecks we will have a stall on Thomas/Edge Street from 11am-5pm Sat & Sun.
Come down and show your support for Manchesters' independent businesses.
Here's the info (courtesy of The Natter)
Northern Quarter businesses are hosting a two-day free festival called N4 Loves U Festival on Saturday and Sunday, Sept 3 and 4 from midday until 9pm to support the I Love MCR campaign.
Thousands are expected to attend the festival which is centred around Thomas Street, Tib Street, Edge Street, Copperas Street, High Street and Oak Street. The streets will be closed off to traffic, there will be music stages, four pop-up bars and 30 acts performing across the weekend. Afflecks will also be running a vintage market.
Street party style picnic tables and benches will run along Thomas Street, Tib Street and Edge Street and there will be a range of food concessions available.
Entertainment will be provided through-out the day across thee stages including an acoustic stage, an Indie stage and a DJ stage featuring Mr Scruff who will headline on Sunday.
Entry is free but buckets will be at the gateways collecting money for the I Love MCR designated charities – Forever Manchester and Reclaim.
Councillor Pat Karney, Manchester’s city centre spokesperson said: “Despite being in the heart of the city centre, the Northern Quarter has a real community vibe. It’s fantastic that the businesses are coming together to put on a free and fun event for all the family and I would urge people to show their support for this important part of the city centre’s economy by coming along and enjoying the show.”
Vaughan Allen, chief executive from CityCo, Manchester’s city centre management company said: “The Northern Quarter is a very important part of the city centre retail and entertainment offer, and the festival’s content really reflects this. These businesses have shown great resilience over the past few weeks, and true Mancunian spirit. Delivering a free fundraising event for the local community in such a short time frame is testament to this.”
An organiser of the festival, Northern Quarter spokesperson, Nicky Rybka Goldsmith, proprietor of The Bay Horse public house, Cord bar and Thomas Restaurant said: ”As small independent businesses, we can be the most vulnerable which the local economy is hit in this way. The last few weeks have demonstrated the strength of working together as a community, which has helped us through this difficult time. It’s now time to celebrate and thank local residents and our other regular customers for their loyal support.”
Another organiser of the festival, Gary McClarnan from Sparkle Street Creative Adventures who owns Teacup on Thomas Street said: ”It’s great that Manchester has come together against anti-social behaviour to show the world we are proud and united in our love of the city. The Northern Quarter is very much behind this fantastic campaign and this festival is our way of showing our support.”

Handmade mushroom sweatshirt online now!!!
The future vision of Me&Yu is for our main products to be handmade by us in the UK, whilst still retaining the affordable pricing we have. This is the first step in that vision with these handmade and handprinted sweatshirts created by us in our Manchester factory using UK produced loopback jersey. I think you would find it very hard to find a UK produced sweatshirt retailing at a lower price than these.
This cool mushroom and eye illustration has been repeat printed over the fabric, which has then been cut out and made into these beautiful sweatshirts. The position of the prints will vary with each garment.
It's strange that to some people a mushroom with eyes is weird - to us it's just something we draw!!!!!
